Colorado Lab Recognized for Contributions to Evidence Building Excellence
We are honored to see the Colorado Lab’s contributions to evidence-based decision making recognized in the Colorado FY 2026-27 Budget Request from Governor Polis (see page 86). The Governor called out partnerships with select organizations, including the Colorado Lab, as key to building the capacity and expertise of state leaders in advancing the use of evidence to drive smart state investments. The Colorado Lab serves as the statewide Coordinating Entity for Evidence-Based Decision Making in Colorado state government.
Governor Polis also lifted up national recognition of these efforts. The nonprofit Results for America (RFA) gave Colorado a “platinum” certification —its highest designation—as one of the three top states in the nation for building and using evidence and data to drive taxpayer dollars toward proven solutions. RFA’s 2025 Invest in What Works State Standard of Excellence underscores the work of states to use data, evidence, and measurable outcome goals to align budgets with the state’s most pressing needs, calling these efforts especially important given the dual challenges of today’s tighter budgets and the uncertainty of federal aid.
