Four professionals gather and two shake hands

We are grateful for the support of external research partner, Dr. Cynthia Burnson. A Senior Researcher at Chapin Hall, Dr. Burnson has deep experience evaluating interventions aligned with Title IV-E Prevention Services Clearinghouse standards and supporting jurisdictions in using research to guide Family First Prevention Services Act implementation. This expertise has been invaluable to the Colorado Lab as leader of the Family First Evidence-Building Hub on behalf of the Colorado Department of Human Services.

“Dr. Burnson’s review of several Family First evaluation team resources, including analysis plans and final reports, has been incredibly helpful in ensuring rigorous evaluations of programs and services are best positioned to meet the Title IV-E Prevention Services Clearinghouse standards. By increasing the likelihood of advancing evidence designations for the programs that serve child welfare-involved families, it better positions Colorado to receive federal reimbursement for delivery of more prevention services,” said Dr. Elysia Versen, Deputy Executive Director and COO for the Colorado Lab.

I’ve always been impressed by the Colorado Lab and their commitment to putting programs to the test. They ensure that what works on paper doesn’t stay there—that strong evidence moves into the real world to support children and families. I’m honored to contribute by applying my expertise in Clearinghouse criteria to help studies meet the mark, so that good evidence goes where it needs to go: into accessible, effective services across Colorado.
